This finely carved terracotta tile has a pattern of hexagons, each with a six-pointed star at the centre radiating and interlacing in a complex geometric motif. The surface is covered in a rich turquoise glaze. Geometric motifs are one of the hallmarks of Islamic art. The repetitive motifs are believed to reflect the infinite nature of God.
