Built in the 1990s, Hong Tho Bilw Temple houses a Taoist shrine that was originally established in a former village in Woodlands.

The temple also commonly known as Feng Tu Miao, is dedicated to Guan Di Gong, a god of war and wealth. It was founded by Yang Lin, who came to Singapore in the 1920s from Anxi, China’s Fujian province, with a statue of Guan Di Gong. Yang’s family eventually settled in a village called Kampong Hock Choon, a farming village situated in the present Woodlands Avenue 3 area. During World War II, many Hock Choon villagers were captured by Japanese soldiers but managed to escape unscathed. They attributed this to blessings from Guan Di Gong and in gratitude, built a temple to this deity in the 1940s.

In the 1980s, the temple moved to its current site in Marsiling Industrial Estate after its village was redeveloped. Today, the temple continues to serve the Taoist community in Woodlands who cisit to pray for blessings and celebrate important festivals.
