The prints show consistent style and technique when compared to the artist's early work, "Menanti Muatan" (Waiting for Cargo), from 1953, even though these prints are works made when Suromo was in his 70s. Suromo stopped producing works following the tragedy of 1965/66 in Indonesia, and spent his time making and teaching ceramics. He only returned to paintings and printmakings in the late 1980s and 1990s. These series of works mark Suromo's reemergence as a painter and printmaker. His prints show a continued commitment to picturing the lives of the people, as many of the prints focus on capturing the historical and political event of Reformasi and the lived realities of ordinary people in Indonesia.
