Coffee shops were so popular in the 1950s and 1960s that wealthier retailers decided to advertise their products on posters and trays such as the one seen here. This tray advertises the Emporium group of department stores in Singapore, consisting of the Oriental Emporium, Chinese Emporium, and Eastern Emporium which opened in the 1960s. These stores were seen as budget-friendly shops which sold goods imported from China and catered for locals and tourists looking for reasonably priced goods.
