This booklet is a Ministry of Culture publication containing two speeches given by Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew at 1) the Singapore National Union of Journalists luncheon, May 24, 1963, and 2) at the Foreign Correspondents’ Association dinner, 25 October 1963. In the first speech, not long before the formation of Malaysia, Mr Lee spoke about the problems the new nation was expected to face. In the second speech, he spoke about Konfrontasi, which had just been launched by Indonesia.
