Five years after Singapore Airlines was established in 1972, the Singapore Tourism Promotion Board introduced the tagline "Surprising Singapore" to market Singapore as a modern city with diverse exotic experiences to encounter. This poster was produced by Singapore Airlines during the Surprising Singapore campaign and highlights an aspect of Singapore's culture by zooming into the face of a Chinese temple guardian or deity.
