This multi-functional table was designed to be used in cities where space is at a premium. It is a contemporary interpretation of a baxian (八仙桌), a square table commonly used as a dining, altar or banquet table in Chinese homes during the Ming and Qing dynasties. A compartment in the centre can be used to store game pieces. Four drawers for game chips or personal belongings tuck neatly into the sides. When not in use, the table can be folded into a console table by adjusting the supporting legs and tucking them to the side. Scene Shang was founded in 2014 by Jessica Wong and Pamela Ting; it closed in 2024. The brand produced contemporary Asian furniture and lifestyle products. They received a Silver Award for this table at the Singapore Creator Awards in 2019.
