This is a postcard of Aboriginal Ami girls addressed to Quah Chin Siong, Danny, from his to-be wife Soh Beow Seng, Nancy, during her trip to Taiwan in 1972. Upon completing her 'O' Level exams, Nancy pursued further studies in computing and was eventually hired as one of the first batches of flight operations staff in the Singapore Airlines – a job which required her to travel frequently. This postcard is part of a set of documents, including birthday cards and photographs, recording memories of the couple during their courtship, leading up to their wedding ceremony in 1975. Collectively, the items chronicle events in the relationship trajectory of a middle class couple in the 1970s, at the same time shining light into the family lives of one of Singapore’s early Chinese business trailblazers -- Quah Chin Lai, and his grandson Quah Chin Siong.
