This phone card was used to make phone calls on cardphones when the service was introduced in Singapore in 1985. When the cardphone service was first brought in by Telecoms (later Singapore Telecom and present-day Singtel), it revolutionised the way the public could use payphones. Where public payphones used to only accept coins as the mode of payment, cardphones now allowed a convenient and cashless way of making phone calls using prepaid phone cards.
