The palm trees and distressed colours of this shirt are in keeping with the LA aesthetic of Mike Amiri, its designer. Amiri founded his namesake line in 2013. The brand started humbly and gained traction on social media. By 2022, popular celebrities including The Weeknd, BTS, Justin Bieber, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Pop Smoke and Lil Baby have all worn his pieces. This shirt was donated by Mervin Wee, the Managing Director of the beauty and wellness empire, Jean Yip Group. The first Jean Yip Hair Studio was opened in 1982 at Katong Plaza. Since then, the Jean Yip brand has expanded to over 80 outlets across Singapore and Malaysia. Wee purchased this piece from Singapore's luxury fashion retailer, Club 21, where he was attracted to its unique print and colour mix.
