Directed by Adar Ng and Dave Lim, The Spaces Between Us was commissioned by the National Museum of Singapore to document various aspects of Singapore's experience of the COVID-19 pandemic, just as the country's circuit breaker lockdown of 2020 was lifted. In exploring the different ways the pandemic has impacted society, this short film presents how people have had to contend with new rules and challenges, and the ways in which daily habits and processes have changed in response. And by looking across different segments of society, the film confronts in particular the differing experiences of migrant workers in Singapore, doing so with an ethnographic eye that allows these new realities to unfold before us.
