Published by Shanghai Book Company, this textbook was targeted at Chinese students in Thailand, and imparts skills of letter writing such as style, expression and format. Letters were the main form of communication in the past and textbooks such as Correspondence aimed to teach students this skill. This skill is especially important in overseas Chinese communities as letter-writing was instrumental in allowing them to maintain ties with their relatives in China.Textbook publishing in post-war Singapore was a popular business. Besides being used by local and Chinese and English schools, the textbooks were also distributed to Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam and Laos.
