These candid images were taken at Liu Kang’s home a year before his passing. They offer a glimpse into the daily life of the renowned Singapore artist, and include private moments with his family. The photographer is Chua Soo Bin, is one of Singapore’s most important photographers and winner of the 1989 Cultural Medallion. Chua made defining portraits of many artists in Singapore and China. He was also a successful commercial photographer, working at advertising agencies for more than a decade before setting up his own photography studio.
