Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles established a British East India Company trading factory in Singapore in 1819. This book contains portraits of Raffles’ friends, the Duke and Duchess of Somerset, and includes a letter of the Duke to his brother Lord Webb Seymour on his opinion on Raffles.
