This letter is part of a collection of letters he wrote to his cousin, the Revd Thomas Raffles, an influential religious leader in Liverpool to whom Raffles was close and with whom he corresponded frequently. Written in 1817 from Henley Upon Thames during Raffles’ return to England, this letter discusses Raffles’ decision to remarry and contains updates on the publication of his book The History of Java.
