This headcloth contain motifs like the custard apple and flowers from the hummingbird tree, nestled amongst seaweed or fern fronds. The striped edges recall the ikat fringe while the square centre is a common feature on headcloths. Usually each batik undergoes several dye sessions, producing vibrant colours. However, this piece appears to be incomplete from the white, uncoloured spaces. Blue and white carries spiritual connotations and is used for Javanese royal textiles as well as religious cloths.
