The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.
With their glossy glaze, the thinly-potted white wares from the Xing kilns were likened to silver and snow. Prized for their delicacy and durability, they were the finest examples among the approximately 300 pieces of white wares found on this wreck. Cups and stands like these were used in China for wine, which was drunk hot. The sharp profiles of these cup stands suggest the influence of metal prototypes.
