The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.

These fragmentary gold bracelets may represent a personal item of a member of the crew of the shipwreck, perhaps the captain or merchant who chartered the ship. Alternatively they could have been part of the trade goods. They were discovered during the recovery of the Tang Shipwreck, a 9th century vessel that was en route from China back to the Middle East when it sank of the coast off Belitung Island in the Java Sea.
