The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.

This mirror with a domed centre is most likely Sumatran in origin. It was recovered from the Tang Shipwreck and indicates that the ship most probably made landfall at ports in this region during its voyage. Java or South Sumatra are the likeliest candidates. The mirror may also indicate that some of the crew were Southeast Asian in origin. The Tang Shipwreck is a 9th century vessel that was en route from China back to the Middle East when it sank off the coast of Belitung Island in the Java Sea.
