This embroidered cape belonged to the donor, Ms. Ng Chee Sun Angie. It was worn together with the headdress (2011-00697), which was presented to her by her grandmother from China when she turned a month old. One of the straps is detached from the cape.Ms. Ng Chee Sun Angie’s family used to run Brilliant Photo Studio at 268 South Bridge Road. Her parents had six children including herself. She lost her father during the Second World War and her mother took over the running of the studio thereafter. The shop survived until the 1980s.
