‘Landscape in Yorkshire Moors’ is an early work by Chng Seok Tin when she was studying printmaking and art abroad in UK and the States. The delicate lines in the field show her strong technique and sensitivity to details. The lines also serve to give the picture a linear perspective as the lines lead the viewer towards the mountains beyond. ‘Landscape in Yorkshire Moors’ is exemplary of Chng Seok Tin’s strength in colours that give the viewers a sense of atmospheric perspective through her use of cold and warm colours. Her ability to create layered effects in landscapes is exemplary in this work, which is replicated in her later works.
