This earthenware bottle has fine inlaid slip decoration that is typical of Haripunchai ware.Early Indian-influenced earthenware ceramics were produced in the Mon kingdom of Haripunjaya. Potters produced unglazed red, earthenware ceramics with a variety of incised, inlaid, and painted designs over a much longer period. Many of these wares have been found at burial sites west of Sukhothai and south of Chiangmai, Thailand.Siimilar but technically more advanced wares with an inlay of white clay were found in burial sites in Tak, in western Thailand. They date from late 14th to mid-16th centuries and are thought to be of the same pre-Thai Mon culture.Mon are people living in eastern Myanmar (Burma) and west-central Thailand.
