Blue-and-white porcelain was probably the most widely used of the Chinese export wares in Southeast Asia. Highly durable, it was used on a daily basis in the Peranakan kitchen for dining and making offerings to the ancestors. As blue and white were also the traditional mourning colours of the Peranakan, these wares were used for making offerings during funeral ceremonies.
