This is an example of a cast gold ring. A model made with wax was first covered with fine clay, and then when the molten gold was poured into the wax model through an inlet, the melted wax flows out through the outlet to be replaced by the molten gold. After this process is completed, a strong metal was used for the inscription. Although Indian influence had reached Java by this time and Indian motifs provided inspiration for Javanese goldsmiths, Javanese jewellery were not mere imitates of Indian models. The nature of interaction between Indian and Javanese culture remains a subject of debate.
