Members of the European community in Singapore enjoyed a comfortable life as they commanded positions and salaries that allowed them luxuries which they were not able to afford back home. The two Europeans shown in the photograph are seen relaxing in the garden outside their bungalow while a servant is standing behind them. The Europeans were wearing sarongs, which were typically worn at home as they were a cooling and comfortable attire for this warm climate.
