This brass jewellery mould has deep and shallow depressions for a variety of realistic and whimsical shapes which include birds, fishes and human figures. These shapes appear on one side of the die while the other is plain. There are also mythical animals such as the mythical bird from South India called Gandavairunda who is a representation of Vishnu. Besides these symbols, there are also decorative motifs such as heart-shaped designs. The mould must have been used to make pendants, ear studs and other smaller embellishments in silver and gold jewellery.
