This pair of earrings comes from the Bugis people of South Sulawesi. It is decorated with wire filigree, gems and dangling spangles. The filigree ornamentation South Sulawesi is noted for being especially fine. In the case of these earrings, fine wires are worked into nets of flowery patterns. It has been suggested that the ear ornaments of South Sulawesi is one of the most ornamented in the region.
