The 'badan' or body of this small piece of sarong cloth has mirror images of phoenix and flowers in pinkish red, blue and green against an ivory white background. The 'kepala' or head of the sarong has diagonal patterns of alternating geometric and floral designs. The sarong is made of machine-spun woven cotton using chemical dyes. Although not of the highest quality of workmanship, the small size of this garment indicates it is a rare child's sarong. Such cloths are unusual since children routinely outgrew their clothes. As such, only the wealthiest families would buy sarongs sized specifically for children. Most wore old cloths cut or folded down to the required size.
