Akha women produce some of the most colourful accessories of all the highland communities. The jacket is made of indigo-dyed hemp, and embellished with colourful fabrics sewn on as appliqué combined with colourful stitching and outlined with white seeds and buttons.The Akha originated from Yunnan and migrated into Northern Thailand from Burma, Laos and Vietnam during the 18th and 19th centuries.
