This brush made of boar's bristles are used by the highland communities of northern Thailand to smoothen threads on the loom. Before the advent of manufactured products in these communities, they used the environment to make tools and instruments for their daily use. They were either made at home or exchanged from the various groups. The highlanders include Karen, Akha, Lisu, Lahu, Hmong, and Yao, the six ethnic minority groups who migrated into Northern Thailand from Burma, Laos and Vietnam during the 18th and 19th centuries.
