This photograph shows Quah Chin Siong, Danny, in the residence of his grandfather Quah Chin Lai on 4 Walton Road, in the 1970s. Quah Chin Siong (1946-2023) is a grandson of the late Quah Chin Lai (柯进来,1892-1990), a prominent Hokkien Chinese metal and machinery hardware tycoon and philanthropist, who had contributed greatly to Chinese tertiary education and the development of Singapore’s manufacturing industry in the 1930s to 50s.
