This sarong is decorated with a buketan (bouquet) motif set against a lilac background filled with small yellow flowers. The kepala (head) features a series of diagonal bands with alternating floral designs. It is signed “Nj: Tan Poo In” and stamped “Oeij Kok Sing / 25 Mei 1939”. It was made by Nyonya Tan Poo In (born Oey Heng Nio), in collaboration with her mother Nyonya Oeij Kok Sing (1895–1966), all of whom were from a family of batik makers who worked in Pekalongan. Oeij is the historical Dutch spelling for Oey, a Chinese Indonesian surname of Hokkien origin.
