This photograph of Mr Hong Seng Mak dates to around 1962, when he was Company Sergeant Major (CSM) of 'A' Company, 1st Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment. Mr Hong joined the Singapore Infantry Regiment at its founding in 1957, and served in various appointments throughout his military career, including at the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI), where he helped train the first batch of SAFTI officer cadets and received the nickname 'Tiger' for his attitude towards discipline.
