This extensive and detailed chart of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore was published in 1872 by James Imray & Son, updated from earlier versions of the chart published in 1859 and 1862. Of note is the primary large scale inset of titled “Strait of Singapore” showing coastal landmarks around Singapore island and extensive soundings along the Singapore Strait. Smaller insets also include “Approaches to Singapore” and “New Harbour”, alongside that for “Rhio Strait”, “Penang” and “Port Dinding”. Detailed information is also provided on currents, depths, good anchorages, and extended writeups on the Singapore Straits, Horsburgh Lighthouse, and Raffles Light. The chart is also supplemented by 19 coastal profiles.
