The inflight magazine of Singapore Airlines (SIA) was first launched in 1976 as Silver Kris. Covering current and future trends in air travel, as well as travel features and destination guides, the magazine also provided information about SIA's products and services, fleet, network, and airports served. An online version of the magazine was launched in 2010 and the magazine, presently stylised as SilverKris, has been fully digital since March 2020. This issue is part of a set donated by Mr Jimmy Chew, who worked as an SIA engineer from the 1960s until his retirement in 1998.The July 1981 issue of Silver Kris holds significance in documenting the official transfer of commercial international aviation operations from Paya Lebar Airport to Changi Airport between 29 June and 1 July 1981. It contains photographs taken of the iconic control tower as well as the then-new passenger terminal and runway.
