This is a Zip disk with 100 MB storage capacity. Zip disks were a disk storage medium produced from 1995 by Iomega. A Zip drive was needed to read the disks. The disks were available in 100, 250 and 750 MB storage sizes, which were large for the time. They also had a larger capacity than the 3.5-inch floppy disk, which typically could store 1.44 MB of data. They were used during the late 1990s to early 2000s, before being replaced by other storage media like thumb drives. The donor used the Zip disk to store large project files when studying multimedia software engineering.
