Petir (Malay for “lightning”) is the party organ of the People’s Action Party (PAP), first published in 1956. Its name references the lightning bolt in the PAP logo. This bilingual (English and Chinese) supplementary issue of Petir was published to commemorate Singapore’s 4th National Day together with the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Singapore by Stamford Raffles in 1819. This publication both celebrates Singapore’s achievements thus far and lays out future plans.
