This hair clipper was one of the tools used by Mdm W.Y. Low, who was a hairdressing apprentice then hairdresser in Singapore from around 1946 to the 1980s. The manual clipper was produced by John Oster Manufacturing Co. which was established in 1924 in Racine, Wisconsin, USA. Manual hair clippers are hand-held tools, which are operated by alternately squeezing and releasing a pair of sprung handles. Barbers and hairdressers could cut their customers' hair close to the skin and relatively quickly with such clippers.
