This kaki pidangan (wooden stand) belonged to Bebe Seet who used it for beading Peranakan fashion pieces. One would place a pidangan (embroidery frame) on the stand so that the pidangan can be elevated and have a hollow space underneath to facilitate the needlework. It was made by an experienced carpenter who also did the restoration and fitting of the wooden interior of her shop, Rumah Bebe.Bebe Seet is the founder of Rumah Bebe, a boutique that offers Peranakan cuisine and fashion. As a Singaporean, Peranakan designer specialising in beaded shoes and bags, she has also been conducting beading classes since 1995. She is well-known for reviving the art of Peranakan beadwork from the 1990s, and for having one of the most exquisite workmanship on Peranakan beadwork.
