This badge was one of the items given out to households by People’s Action Party (PAP) candidates as part of the campaigning for the 2020 General Elections, or GE2020. Being held during the global COVID-19 pandemic meant that various measures were taken to protect public health and safety during the elections. Nevertheless, as this item shows, walkabouts and door-to-door campaigning continued to take place, albeit with certain restrictions such as mask-wearing and keeping a 1m distance from other groups. During this election, for only the second time in Singapore’s history, all seats were contested. The PAP won 61.24% of the popular vote and secured 83 out of 93 parliamentary seats, with the Workers’ Party claiming the remaining 10 seats.
