Y-3 is a collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas, inspired by Yamamoto’s observation that New York businessman and women had begun to pair their corporate attire with sneakers during their commute. This collaboration was at the forefront of the athleisure trend and multiple future collaborations between high fashion and sportswear brands. This jacket was donated by Mervin Wee, the Managing Director of the beauty and wellness empire, Jean Yip Group. The first Jean Yip Hair Studio was opened in 1982 at Katong Plaza. Since then, the Jean Yip brand has expanded to over 80 outlets across Singapore and Malaysia. Wee purchased this piece from the Y3 store in Singapore which opened in the Mandarin Gallery in 2016. Wee wears these trousers during flights, paired with a hoodie or casual t shirt, for its comfort and style.
