Dzojchen is a Singapore-born brand with an overseas presence. Founded by Chelsea Scott-Blackhall, Dzojchen released its first collection in 2012 and gained international attention after the late Chadwick Boseman wore its three-piece kimono suit for the Asian premiere of the Black Panther film in Seoul, and later appeared on the cover of Time Magazine wearing a Dzojchen bomber jacket. Other celebrities including Common, Ryan Gosling and Donald Glover have also worn Dzojchen.These shorts were purchased by the donor, Lionnel Lim, in 2013 or 2014 at a dzojchen sample sale. Lionnel Lim, Director of Society & Special Events at a+ magazine, purchased this piece from a sample sale of Dzojchen pieces in 2013/2014. Lionnel Lim first worked as a fashion designer-cum-merchandiser for local and regional manufacturers and later switched to writing, styling and illustrating for newspapers and various publications . Lim’s style is driven by a preference for the strange and unusual, with pieces ranging from Walter Van Bierendonck to Jean Paul Gaultier’s Soleil Sol line.
