Issey Miyake’s clothes are wearable technology, created with Miyake’s signature pleating technique in wrinkle-resistant and quick-drying fabrics. Miyake launched Homme Plisse in 2013, a contemporary menswear label that focused on providing men with comfortable, lightweight unrestricted clothing. This sweater dates to the first Homme Plisse show held in Paris in 2019, which saw models walk, run, and dance around a park in a playful celebration of movement. This sweater was donated by Mervin Wee, the Managing Director of the beauty and wellness empire, Jean Yip Group. The first Jean Yip Hair Studio was opened in 1982 at Katong Plaza. Since then, the Jean Yip brand has expanded to over 80 outlets across Singapore and Malaysia. Wee purchased this piece from Singapore's luxury fashion retailer, Club 21, and would wear it on flights due to its comfort. Wee was named Tatler’s Most Stylish Man in 2019. His wardrobe reflects his preference for loose, organic silhouettes that are comfortable yet avant garde.
