The prints on the front panels, arms, and back of this blouse reference the batik nitik (dot) and patterns on ikat textiles, while the shorts feature embroidered butterflies. It comes from Andrew Gn’s Spring/Summer 2003 collection which combines cross-cultural designs in psychedelic colours reminiscent of the 1960s style. This collection was the grand finale of the Singapore Fashion Festival 2003 and his first runway presentation in his home country. Andrew Gn is one of Singapore’s most prolific fashion designers in history, achieving high levels of critical acclaim and industry success. He is the only Singaporean to be a constant feature of Paris Fashion Week since 1995. His creations are known for their elegant, feminine, maximalist aesthetics and are finely crafted, cross-cultural, and reflective of innovation in tradition in fashion. This work is part of his major gift back to Singapore.
