Tang Da Wu is an iconic figure in contemporary Asian art, most well-known for his performances and installations. This self-portrait shows Tang as a medicine man - the words in Chinese on the gourd translate to "Selling Medicine". Tang was making a self-reflexive critique of his own identity as an artist selling a product that might not have the value it purports to.
