Kitano Odori performanceKamigyō ward, Kyoto, 2012Archival pigment print on photo ragThis traditional dance performance started in 1952 in Kamishichiken kagai to commemorate Daimanto-sai Festival, which is held every 50 years at the Kitano Tenmangū Shrine. The performance consists of dance drama and classical dance. At the center of the stage stands the late Geiko Katsukiyo.
