Insulated Tiffin Carrier

This insulated tiffin carrier belonged to Mdm Lim Yeok Quan and was acquired in India when she and her husband (Mr Ong Peng Hock) were evacuated from Singapore to India during World War II. It was brought back to Singapore when Mr and Mrs Ong Peng Hock returned after the war and was used to keep food warm while transporting it to Bukit Brown Cemetery for the purpose of ritual offerings and prayers to ancestors. Mr Ong Peng Hock was a prominent member of the Straits Chinese community in Singapore. He was the second son of Peranakan businessman Ong Sam Leong, whose remains are housed in the largest tomb at Bukit Brown.
