This covered box has a button knobbed lid and is decorated with creamy white glaze and vegetal scroll designs in brown. Covered boxes were one of the most representative type of Sawankhalok wares produced. Large quantities of ceramics were made at Sukhothai and Sawankhalok kilns for export to Southeast Asia and beyond during the 14th to 16th centuries.
