Shengguan Tu (升官图) is a Chinese boardgame that traces its roots to the Tang dynasty. Players take on the role of a bureaucratic scholar and the game’s objective is to attain the highest possible bureaucratic position while accumulating more monetary funds than the other players. This game is typically played on a sheet of paper with six dices that are to be rolled in a bowl. The paper diagram comes in two sizes: large and small whereby the larger is close to twice the size of the first. Such games were also popular with the local Peranakan community in Singapore.
