Zazi (杂字) books contain a myriad of categories and vocabulary associated to these categories. They were used as dictionaries, as well as a handy resource to learn Chinese characters. Such books became widely used by the working class and merchants to gain literacy in the past.This version incorporates “western” and “chinese” illustrations and were used in Singapore to help young children improve their Chinese vocabulary.
